David and Sheila Thomlinson were among the early enthusiasts of the Limousin breed, founding their Beeches Limousin herd in 1978. David has been auctioning pedigree Limousins for Harrison & Hetherington, Carlisle for more than two decades.
Stock Bulls
Stock bulls and AI sires have been used in the herd with the aim of breeding bulls and females with frame and conformation, with emphasis on well shaped hindquarters.
Of equal importance is the selection of bulls for easy calving – the herd has few assisted calvings and temperament has always been high on our agenda.
Sires are primarily selected on their visual appearance and conformation although higher beef value bulls have passed on this trait to many of the breeding females now in the herd.
